SMITHFIELD, NC is located on I-95 halfway between Virginia and South Carolina. We're just 28 miles southeast of the state capital of Raleigh. The central business district extends along U.S. 70 Business (Market Street) from the east bank of the Neuse River to U.S. 301 (Bright Leaf Boulevard).

The office of the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation has moved from 222 E. Market Street beside the Courthouse to the historic Hastings House at 200 South Front Street beside the Town Commons Park and the Neuse River.
